Abstract

I suggest that quantum gravity theories should involve construction of a quantum theory
on non-Cauchy hypersurfaces. I propose a setup where the hypersurface direction is that of the
direction of the effective non-gravitational force field at a point. I will start with a short review of works
which support this idea. I will then show a foliation of spacetime along an effective non-gravitational force field
direction, and discuss the implication of this foliation on the expected properties of quantum gravity.
