Abstract

In the first part of the talk, I will show how Avishy Carmi and I were able to derive the strength of quantum correlations from two basic principles: relativistic causality and generalized uncertainty relations [1]. This has led us and collaborators to reformulation of well-known bounds, as well as derivation of new, tighter limits on quantum entanglement in various systems [1-4]. The latter are currently tested in the quantum optics labs of Ottawa and Turin.
In the second part of the talk I will discuss our recent applications of entangled photons in photonic setups, namely, cyclic quantum walks as quantum simulators [5] (w/ uOttawa), interaction-free ghost-imaging [6] (w/ uOttawa) and realization of erasure-based nonlocal quantum gates [7] (w/ University of Science and Technology of China).
