Abstract

I consider High Mass X ray Binaries HMXBs in which a magnetized neutron star is orbiting its massive early type companion and appears as an accretion powered X ray pulsar We show that such a system can be used as a native laboratory for testing parameters of the stellar wind ejected by the massive component The neutron star in the system plays a role of a probe while its mass and radius are defined with a good accuracy by the equation of state Parameters of X rays emitted by the neutron star depend on the velocity and magnetic field of the stellar wind of its companion Using HMXB OAO1657 415 as an example we demonstrate the method to estimate the velocity and magnetic field of stellar wind at the distance of orbital separation We find that the magnetic field strength in the stellar wind of the massive component of OAO1657 415 at a distance of orbital separation lies in the range 20 70 mG
