Abstract
Utilizing AMR hydro cosmological simulations we study the role of inflowing gas streams in determining the properties of the intra cluster medium ICM Mass accretion into the cluster occurs predominantly along streams originating in the cosmic web and these play an important role in determining the properties of the ICM and the dynamical state of the cluster The penetration depth of the gas streams and the dynamical state of the cluster are shown to be linked with unrelaxed clusters hosting streams which penetrate to the central regions of the cluster whereas streams in relaxed clusters only penetrate to roughly half the virial radius In addition collisions of inflowing streams are shown to be a viable mechanism for generating shocks and Cold Fronts in the ICM
