STRING THEORY AND THE QUEST FOR QUANTUM SPACETIME

In this talk I will try to give a picture of how gauge string duality or the AdS CFT correspondence is giving new insight into the problem of understanding the nature of spacetime at the quantum mechanical level The ideas of gauge string duality hint at a holographic picture of spacetime geometry At the same time they give novel insights into conventional quantum field theories Refreshments are served at 3:20pm
