Abstract

In this talk, I will give a short introduction to the AdS/CFT correspondence, emphasizing how gravitational physics in asymptotically AdS spaces can be encoded in conformal field theories living on the boundary. We will focus on one of the well-understood examples, the AdS3/CFT2 correspondence. Within this framework, I will discuss how key physical quantities, such as entropy and partition functions, can be computed and compared on both sides of the duality. I will then introduce conformal blocks as the fundamental building blocks of correlation functions in conformal field theory, and describe their holographic interpretation in terms of geometrical and gravitational structures in AdS3.
