Abstract
The hallmark of strong-field physics is high harmonic generation (HHG) in which strong laser fields drive electrons in matter in a non-perturbative manner, leading to the emission of highly energetic photons in the soft X-ray spectral region. HHG enables the production of attosecond light pulses, the subject of 2023’s Nobel Prize in Physics. In the last decade, there has been growing interest in quantum optical effects in strong-field physics. I will present our recent theoretical and experimental investigations of HHG driven by non-classical light, mainly bright squeezed vacuum (BSV) [1-4]. We discovered an effective optical force that depends on the light photon statistics - the photon statistics force, developed a method for quantum state tomography in the extreme UV spectral region, and move towards generation of non-classical attosecond pulses.
