The Faculty of Natural Sciences regulations permit a Primary–Minor track that combines study in two different departments: one as the primary department and one as the minor. The Physics Department may appear as either the primary department or the minor.
Departments offering this track define a set of compulsory courses that students must take. In principle, studies last three years, but scheduling conflicts between compulsory courses in the two departments may extend them to four years.
Credit requirements:
- Total: at least 120 credits
- Physics as primary department: 92 credits
- Physics as minor: at least 28 credits
In cases of partial overlap between the compulsory course lists of the two departments, the student must make up the remaining credits through elective courses — in the primary department or the minor — subject to approval by the teaching committee of the primary department. Students studying Physics as a minor who are required to continue to a Master's degree in Physics must complete all compulsory courses.
Track principles (Faculty of Natural Sciences):
- Total programme scope: at least 120 credits, lasting three years where possible.
- Primary department: 92 credits.
- Minor: 28 credits (the minor does not appear on the degree certificate).
- Admission requirements are identical to those of the single-major track in the relevant department.
- Admission requires acceptance by both the primary department and the minor — acceptance to only one is not possible.
- The degree awarded is a Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.Sc.), according to the primary department.
- The primary-department programme allows graduates to continue to a Master's degree in that department.
- The minor programme may require supplementary coursework for admission to a Master's degree.
Physics as a Minor
The Physics Department offers Physics as a minor (secondary department) within the Primary–Minor track framework. Students choosing Physics as a minor who need to continue to a Master's degree in the field must complete all compulsory courses. תקנון הפקולטה מאפשר מסלול של מחלקה ראשית–חטיבה, המשלב לימודים בשתי מחלקות שונות: האחת כמחלקה ראשית והשנייה כחטיבה. המחלקה לפיזיקה יכולה להופיע הן כמחלקה ראשית והן כחטיבה.
מחלקות המציעות מסלול זה מגדירות קבוצת קורסי חובה שעל הסטודנטים ללמוד. באופן עקרוני, משך הלימודים הוא שלוש שנים, אך בשל התנגשויות אפשריות בין קורסי חובה במחלקות השונות, ייתכן שהלימודים יתפרסו על פני ארבע שנים.

במקרה של חפיפה חלקית בין קורסי החובה של שתי המחלקות, על הסטודנט להשלים את יתרת הנקודות באמצעות קורסי בחירה — במחלקה הראשית או בחטיבה — בכפוף לאישור ועדת ההוראה של המחלקה הראשית. סטודנטים הלומדים פיזיקה כחטיבה ונדרשים להמשך לתואר שני בפיזיקה, חייבים להשלים את כל מקצועות החובה.
עקרונות המסלול (על פי הפקולטה למדעי הטבע):
- היקף תוכנית הלימודים הכולל הוא לפחות 120 נק"ז, ויימשך שלוש שנים במידת האפשר.
- היקף הלימודים במחלקה הראשית: 92 נק"ז.
- היקף הלימודים בחטיבה: 28 נק"ז (החטיבה אינה מצוינת בתעודת הבוגר).
- תנאי הקבלה זהים לאלו של המסלול החד-מחלקתי במחלקה הרלוונטית.
- הקבלה למסלול מחייבת קבלה הן למחלקה הראשית והן לחטיבה — לא ניתן להתקבל רק לאחת מהן.
- התואר שיוענק הוא תואר בוגר (B.A. או B.Sc.), בהתאם למחלקה הראשית.
- תוכנית הלימודים במחלקה הראשית מאפשרת המשך ללימודי תואר שני באותה מחלקה.
- תוכנית הלימודים בחטיבה עשויה לדרוש השלמות לצורך קבלה לתואר שני.
פיזיקה כחטיבה
המחלקה לפיזיקה מציעה לימודי פיזיקה כחטיבה (מחלקה משנית) במסגרת מסלול מחלקה ראשית–חטיבה. סטודנטים הבוחרים בפיזיקה כחטיבה ונדרשים להמשיך לתואר שני בתחום, חייבים להשלים את מקצועות החובה. לפרטים נוספים ראו תקנון הפקולטה תחת המסלול: "פיזיקה כמחלקה ראשית".
