Physics as a major פיזיקה כמחלקה ראשית

The Faculty of Natural Sciences regulations permit a Primary–Minor track that combines study in two different departments: one as the primary department and one as the minor. The Physics Department may serve as either the primary or the minor.

Departments offering this track define a set of compulsory courses students must take. In principle the programme lasts three years, but scheduling conflicts between compulsory courses in the two departments may extend it to four.

Credit requirements:

• Total: at least 120 credits
• Physics as primary department: 92 credits
• Physics as minor: at least 28 credits

In cases of partial overlap between compulsory course lists of the two departments, the student must make up the remaining credits through elective courses — in the primary department or the minor — subject to approval by the teaching committee of the primary department. Students studying Physics as a minor who wish to continue to a Master's degree in the field must complete all compulsory courses.

Track principles (Faculty of Natural Sciences):

1. Total programme scope: at least 120 credits, lasting three years where possible.
2. Primary department: 92 credits.
3. Minor: 28 credits (the minor does not appear on the degree certificate).
4. Admission requirements are identical to those of the single-major track in the relevant department.
5. Admission requires acceptance by both the primary department and the minor; acceptance to only one is not possible.
6. The degree awarded is a Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.Sc.), according to the primary department.
7. The primary-department programme allows graduates to continue to a Master's degree in that department.
8. The minor programme may require supplementary coursework for admission to a Master's degree.
