Abstract

One of the major conundrums in physics is how the statistical ensemble emerges from the microscopic equations In my talk I will report on recent progress towards unravelling this problem in the context of quantum field theory subject to a rapid change in one of the couplings I will argue that this regime is different from the well known sudden quench approximation and present universal scaling of various observables at early times Finally I will discuss a particular route towards understanding late time dynamics thermalization and effective temperature in this setup
