Abstract
Quantum gravity phenomenology QGP is the strategy towards quantum gravity where priority is placed on making contact with experiments The key step to do QGP systematically is to have a generic parametrization which in addition to the obvious advantages when doing phenomenology allows one to perform self consistency checks As an example I will describe the case of Lorentz violation where it has been shown that the Bianchi identity imposes severe restrictions linking matter gravity and the coefficients for Lorentz violation To avoid these restrictions a big part of the Lorentz violation community is taking the position that such violations must arise spontaneously However in the most popular model for spontaneous Lorentz violation the initial data does not determine the fields evolution uniquely casting doubts on the possibility that conventional physics admits a Lorentz violating extension
