Abstract

Exponential tuning of tunneling barriers in gate defined dynamic quantum dots enables precise and rapid manipulation of individual charges in mesoscopic circuits This class of devices has recently gained metrological relevance as a standard of current based of precision electron counting In this talk I will describe two experimentally demonstrated basic science applications of dynamic quantum dots: universal limits of counting statistics in charge capture by a gradual quanch of tunneling Phys Rev
