Coherent Control of Internal Conversion in Pyrazine
Robert J. Gordon
Abstract
Coherent control of molecular processes is based on the ideas that phase information contained in an electromagnetic wave may be transferred to the wave function of a molecule and that quantum interference between competing reaction paths of such coherently excited molecules may be utilized to control their dynamics Internal conversion is a spin conserving radiationless transition between a pair of electronic states of a molecule Such transitions are ubiquitous in nature and play a key role in the photo stability of biological molecules Using coherent
