This is a student seminar.

Abstract:
The Stern-Gerlach effect has been a paradigm of quantum mechanics throughout the last century. In this seminar, I’ll begin with a brief review of our implementation of the Stern-Gerlach experiment using the atom chip. I’ll then address the long-standing debate on whether Stern-Gerlach splitting can be coherent and present the Stern-Gerlach interferometer. I’ll also explore the applications of this interferometer, particularly its potential for testing the quantization of gravity. The remainder of the seminar will focus on the technical details of our system for Stern-Gerlach interferometry, including its design, components, and the methods we use to prepare atoms for our experiments.
