Abstract

Dear all,

This week we will have a double seminar by Rotem Berman + Lilian Saiegh (40 minutes each, starting 14:10, as a part of the M.Sc. requirements).

There will also be some refreshments for those arriving around 13:50 to the lobby in front of the seminar room. Here are the titles and abstracts:

Title: Shock waves in de Sitter space & the volume behind the cosmological horizon
Abstract: I will describe the geometric properties of de Sitter space in the presence of a shock wave. I will start by constructing shockwave geometries in de-Sitter and Schwarzschild de-Sitter spacetimes and check that they satisfy the null-energy condition. I will then focus on two geometric questions. First, I will study constant redshift surfaces, which are surfaces on which observers can move while sending signals to each other that will arrive with a constant frequency shift. Then I will talk about the evolution of the space time volume behind the cosmological horizon as a function of time. The space time volume grows linearly as time progresses but the growth is delayed in the presence of the shock wave. This phenomenon is similar to the one observed in AdS black holes in the context of holographic complexity.
