Abstract

In my talk I will discuss the issue of non-perturbative stability of string vacua without supersymmetry. In particular we will consider AdS4 vacua coming from compactifications of massive IIA supergravity on a six-sphere. This setup is known to give rise to non-supersymmetric vacua preserving SO(7) as well as G2 residual symmetry. While the SO(7) invariant vacuum is known to be perturbatively unstable, the G2 invariant one has been found to have a fully stable Kaluza-Klein spectrum. Motivated by these results, I will present and discuss a possible bubbling solution connected to the G2 vacuum and representing a non-perturbative instability of the latter. We we finally discuss the nature of this instability channel and we will describe it in terms of the nucleation of a bubble of nothing dressed up with a homogeneous D2 brane charge distribution in the internal space.
