Abstract:
We will discuss the motivation and prospects to explore macroscopic quantum physics with levitated nanoparticles in the context of state-of-the-art experiments. Particular emphasis will be put into the certification of quantum delocalization and the challenges imposed by decoherence. In this context, we will present a recent proposal (PRL 127, 024601 (2021)) to generate large quantum delocalization of a levitated nanoparticle using optimal control and the applications for force sensing and entangling the motion of particles via weak forces.
