Research Interests: My recent research activity has been concentrated mostly on the development of a new approach to the cosmological constant problem. In this research I am mostly collaborating with Alexander Kaganovich. It is based on geometrical ideas concerning the definition of composite gauge fields out of scalar fields which I developed in 1995 in collaboration with Emil Nissimov and Svetlana Pacheva and which we now use in order to define measure elements out of elementary scalars and formulate then a theory with deep implications for both particle and gravitational theory. In addition, with my student Jacob Portnoy, I am studying questions relating to the possibility of generating a Universe out of a very small region, like an elementary particle. Such research touches at the foundations of modern theories of the Early Universe Cosmology, like the inflationary universe scenario. Finally, I am also presently investigating scenarios where baryogenesis takes place just before the electroweak phase transition due to the non trivial cosmological time dependence of a scalar field with axion type couplings to the U(1)-weak hypercharge of the standard model.
