On the ability of cells to evolve into novel life forms

A biological cell is a natural complex dynamical system rather than a well-designed logic device. I will discuss experiments showing how the dynamic properties of a cell and its complexity allow it to evolve. These results suggest a mechanism allowing cells to meet novel challenges and creating new forms.
