Non-relativistic Nature of Electrons in the Bohr Atom Using Bohr’s quantization rule for angular momentum. Derive a formula for the speed of the electron in the quantized Bohr orbits. By inserting numerical values for the constants, explicitly derive the value of electron speed in the n = 1 orbit. What fraction of the speed of light ( c = 3 ´ 10 8 m/s) is it? Is it justified to treat the electron motion as being non-relativistic in Hydrogen atom as we have been doing? What are the electron speeds in higher levels?
