A Hydrogen atom (H-atom) initially in its ground state (i.e., n = 1) absorbs a photon which causes the electron to make a transition to the n = 4 level. What must have been the energy and frequency of the photon? If the electron spontaneously makes a transition to lower energy states and returns to the ground state, what are the possible energies and frequencies of the photons emitted during this process?

 

The ground state energy is given by: \(E_0 = -13.6 eV\)
