• From atoms to planets: scales of sizes in nature; The role of atoms in a geography course; Pythagoras' theorem and square roots;  Pytahgoras' theorem and some basic physics.
• Momentum; Mass; Weight; Mass and energy.
• Force and Newton's laws of motion; Gravity.
• Circular motion and centripetal force; Centripetal forces and gravitation; Fictitious forces; Centrifugal force; Coriolis force.
• Conservation of energy; Conservation laws and symmetries - Noether's theorem; Back to energy; Conservation of angular momentum.
• Motion of the Earth-Sun system; Longitude and Latitude; Time zones; Tilt of the Earth's axis; Precession of the Earth's axis.
• Electrostatic forces; Bohr' model of the hydrogen atom; Waves.
• The effects of quantization; Larger atoms; The modern “picture” of atoms; The hydrogen molecule; Larger molecules; Isotopes; Summary of atomic properties; The stability of matter; Thermal energy and temperature; Kelvin temperature units.
