Thesis Title: The kinetices of MinD on membrane
assessed by Fluorescence Fluctuation analysis

During bacterial cell division a new cell wall is constructed exactly in the middle of the bacterial cell (such as E. coli). One of the most fundamental questions of bacterial cell cycle is how this precise spatial positioning is achieved. One of the mechanisms responsible for the division site location is a system of three proteins MinCDE, that oscillate from pole to pole with a time period of ~ 40s.
Different theoretical models explain these oscillations on the basis of different diffusion-reaction equations.

We have used different methods of Fluctuation Fluorescence Spectroscopy (such as Fluctuation Correlation Spectroscopy and
Fluorescence Intensity Distribution Analysis) as well as fluorescence microscopy. We have  obtained quantitative information about the diffusion parameters and tried to validate the model.
