Speaker: Uri Keshet (BGU) May 29, 2013 Intergalactic shocks
Strong
intergalactic shocks are a natural consequence of structure formation
in the Universe. The anticipated detection of these shocks will
probe large-scale flows, the warm-hot intergalactic medium (IGM),
cosmic-ray acceleration, and intergalactic magnetic fields. I will
discuss the predicted signatures andimplications of such shocks, and the preliminary signals detected so far.
