Is the cosmic-ray positron excess evidence for Dark Matter Decay?

Nir Shaviv, Hebrew University

I will review the evidence for dark matter in the galaxy, and in particular, the latest claims that excess positrons in the cosmic rays are the result of dark matter annihilation. I will then discuss the topic of cosmic ray acceleration and diffusion in the Milky Way, and show that there are several astrophysical solutions, including one with the standard run-of-the-mill cosmic ray source, that of supernova remnants.
